Aunty Ivy Cloche Hat PDF Pattern by Charlie's Aunt

The Aunty Ivy Cloche Hat PDF Pattern by Emma Brennan of Charlie's Aunt includes sewing instructions and pattern templates for creating a close-fitting cloche-style hat with echoes of the styles of the 1920s and 1950s. It features multiple tucks and a decorative side tab trimmed with a vintage buckle or buttons. Aunty Ivy is named after my great aunt who came from an age where hats were very much a key part of every outfit. This style is designed to be made from fabrics with stretch only. In polar fleece it offers a stylish and warm alternative to a modern-day beanie or bobble hat. Dress it up in a high-quality stretch boiled wool or boucle type fabric for a more refined look. The tucks are made on the crown lining and turn to the outside when the ‘cuff’ is turned up and held in place with the tab. The bottom of the three tucks is ideally placed to double as a small ‘brim’. Two sizes: small/medium 21-1/2" x 22-1/2"; medium/large 23-1/2" crown.

Materials needed:

• 2/3 yd firm weight stretch fabric - crown lining with tucks, crown exterior, crown top and tab
• 10" x 10" lining fabric (plus 10" x 10" lightweight interfacing if needed)
• 7" x 5" lightweight interfacing for tab if needed
• 1-1/2" - 2" (center bar length) vintage buckle OR (2) vintage buttons
