The Morston Quay Messenger Bag PDF Pattern by Charlie’s Aunt includes sewing instructions and pattern templates for creating a vintage inspired 1940’s style messenger bag with a decorative angular shaped flap and pocket with an optional decorative trimmed tab. This bag can be made with either a purchased strap or a self-fabric strap. Finished size: 14” H x 12” W x 2” D.

Materials needed:

  • To make whole bag in one fabric: 1 yd exterior fabric.
  • To make with a contrast pocket and strap: 3/4 yd exterior fabric
    • 1/2 yd contrast fabric
  • To make with a purchased strap: 3/4 yd exterior fabric
  • For all combinations:
    • 2/3 yd lining fabric
    • 1/2 yd firm sew-in craft weight interfacing
    • 2/3 yd of 36” wide fusible interfacing
    • 40” x 5” fusible web
    • magnetic snap
    • (3) 1" buttons or 2 larger buttons
  • For purchased handle:
    • 3/4" wide x 36” leather or vinyl strap
    • 4" x 4" Piece of fusible web for tabs
