The Edingthorpe Satchel PDF Pattern by Charlie's Aunt includes sewing instructions and pattern templates for creating a simple style satchel design - the original "cross-body" bags circa 1940s. It features a pleated front pocket, a choice of two flap styles and two interior pockets - one zipped and one "patch". If you prefer to make a plain front pocket rather than a pleated one, you can use the pocket lining template to do this. The Edingthorpe Satchel is a practical shape and size for all uses and occasions and can be made in a variety of fabrics, and with a contrasting strap/pocket. Finished size: 13" W x 9 1/2" H x 2" D.

Materials Needed:

  • 3/4 yd exterior fabric
  • 1/3 yd contrast exterior fabric
  • 1 yd lining fabric
  • 1 1/4 yds interfacing
  • 1/2 yd x 28" foam stabilizer
  • 1 yd x 36" wide fusible interfacing
  • 3 or 4 buttons to trim flap, 1 1/2" diameter
  • 12" x 2" piece of plastic canvas for base
  • 40" x 5" fusible fusible web for straps
  • (1 or 2) magnetic snaps depending on flap style

The Edingthorpe Satchel PDF Sewing Pattern by Charlie's Aunt has a total of 21 pages, including 8 pages of pattern templates (to print, cut out and tape together).
