Lynford Hat PDF Pattern by Charlie's Aunt

The Lynford Hat PDF Pattern by Emma Brennan of Charlie's Aunt includes sewing instructions and pattern templates for creating an elegant and flattering wide-brimmed style. Although retro in its influences, with echoes of the 1960s, it is thoroughly modern and classic in its appeal. It features a pieced crown and can be made with or without a bound brim. This hat suits most face shapes and looks equally stylish made in lighter weight linen fabrics for a vintage-style spring/summer occasion, or simply in cotton canvas for a ‘sun’ hat. It can also be made in winter weight fabrics for chic autumn/winter wear. This hat it is named after a beauty spot in Thetford Forest where we picnicked as children. Two sizes: small/medium and medium/large.

Materials needed:

• 2/3 yd exterior fabric
• 1 yd of 36" wide fusible interfacing
• 1/4 yd of lining fabric
• 1-1/3 yds of 1" wide double fold bias binding to bind brim
  • Optional extra 26" for narrow band for the hat exterior
• 1 yd of 1" wide grosgrain ribbon - interior band
