The Victory Bags PDF Pattern by Emma Brennan of Charlie's Aunt for Indygo Junction includes sewing instructions and pattern templates for creating a pair of stylish shoulder bags with a 1940s wartime influence. The Victory Bags are constructed with a set-in gusset base and are a sensible size for everyday use. Both styles include instructions for an internal zippered or patch pocket. Finished size: 14" W x 11" H x 3" D.

Materials needed:

VIEW A - Pleat detailing runs sideways from a center panel and fastens with a long narrow flap

  • 1 yd woolen or decorator fabric for bag exterior
  • 1/2 yd lining fabric for bag lining and interior pocket
  • 1/2 yd fleece or heavy sew in interfacing for interfacing the bag
  • 1/3 yd of 36" wide fusible interfacing for strap and front flap
  • magnetic snap
  • 6" zipper for interior pocket
  • (3) 1-1/2" new or vintage buttons for front flap trim

VIEW B - Lower front section pleated on to an upper yoke panel with a wide flap and tab

  • 1 yd woolen or decorator fabric for bag exterior
  • 1/2 yd lining fabric for bag lining and interior pocket
  • 1/2 yd fleece or heavy sew in interfacing for interfacing bag
  • 1/2 yd of 36" wide fusible interfacing for strap, front flap and tab
  • magnetic snap
  • 6" zipper for interior pocket
  • 2" new or vintage buckle to fit the front tab
