The Brancaster Messenger Bag PDF Pattern by Charlie's Aunt includes sewing instructions and pattern templates for creating a 1940's inspired design with a stylish asymmetrical flap and front pocket. The shape is practical and you can either dress this handbag up or down depending on the fabric and contrasting pocket or strap. The template included for the front pocket also doubles as an interior pocket with a divider. Finished size: 9 1/2" H x  13” W x 2" D.

Materials Needed:

  • To make whole bag in one fabric: 3/4 yd exterior fabric
  • To make with a contrast pocket and strap: 
    • 2/3 yd exterior fabric
    • 1/3 yd contrast fabric
  • For all combinations, you will need:
    • 3/4 yd lining fabric
    • 1/3 yd firm sew-in interfacing
    • 1/2 yd of 36” wide fusible interfacing
    • 40” x 5” fusible web
    • 2" x 12" Piece of plastic canvas
    • magnetic snap
    • (2 or 3) big buttons
