This pattern has instructions to make a handy shopping bag and zips into itself to create a small size - perfect for carrying
in your purse or to carry in your car! Just unzip the pouch to open the shopping bag. This bag has reinforced straps and a sturdy base
and complete instructions on how to insert a zipper on a curved base.
Finished size is 29cm x 36cm x 12cm (11 ¼" x 14" x 4 ¾").
Materials Needed:
- Fabric for pouch (quilting cotton) -
40cm x 16cm (15 ¾" x 6 ¼")
- Fabric for bag (quilting cotton or lighter) -
95cm x 112cm (or 1 yard of 44" wide)
- 10cm x 33cm (4" x 13") fusible webbing
(Vliesofix, Applifix, Heat&Bond etc.
- Nylon zipper- minimum 40cm - 50cm (15 ¾" - 19 ½")
- Appliqué mat or baking paper (parchment)
- Fast2Fuse* - 33cm x 12cm (13" x 4 ¾")
*Alternatively, double sided Peltex (72) can be used; however it is a little more difficult to use and manipulate because it is thicker
and softer than Fast2Fuse.
Tools You May Find Useful:
- Vlieseline T6 tape or similar fusible webbing tape
- Tailor's awl
- Fabric marker or tailor's chalk
