The Gypsy Hobo pattern by Amy Barickman of Indygo Junction is a large carryall with two inside pockets, tied fabric handles or belting handles that sling over your shoulder. This bag pattern has a unique shape and can be made with Fat Quarters. The approximate finished size is 16" H x 24" W.
Materials Needed:
- BAG MADE USING FAT QUARTERS:
- Four fat quarters for the exterior
- Four fat quarters for the lining
- One fat quarter for the interior pockets
- One fat quarter for the fabric handles
- OR
- 2 1/2 yards of 1" wide cotton belting for the handles
- BAG MADE USING FABRIC:
- 1 1/3 yards of 44" wide fabric for the exterior and fabric handles
- 1 1/3 yards of 44" wide fabric for the lining and the interior pockets
- ADDITIONAL MATERIALS:
- 4 yards of 1 1/2" grosgrain ribbon if making fabric handles
- OR
- 2 yards of 1 1/2" wide grosgrain ribbon if using cotton belting for handles
- If using cotton fabric for both the exterior and the lining fabric, you will need 1 yard of 44" wide cotton batting, or a piece measuring 36" wide x 44". If using home decor fabric for the exterior of the bag, you will not need cotton batting as an interfacing.
