The Chic Bucket Bag pattern is a great way to show off your favorite fabrics to create this stylish bucket bag with quilted exterior pockets. Recycle jeans to create another unique variation. Use the front and back jean pockets as functional pockets and utilize the jean hem for the top of a second exterior pocket. Both versions have convenient interior pockets. Size: 10 ½” H x 8 ½” W x 6” D
Materials Needed:
- Denim Jeans Versions:
- 1 to 2 pairs of denim jeans (the larger the better)
- 1/2 yard of lining fabric
- Optional: 1 yard of batting (if using light weight denim)
- 1 magnetic snap
- 2" of Hook and Loop Tape
- Heavy weight interfacing such as Stitch N Shape for bag bottom (2 pieces 10 1/2" x 8 1/2"). Save scraps to put under magnetic snap
- Cotton Fabric Version:
- 3/4 yard of main fabric for purse body, handle and purse bottom
- 5/8 yard of contrast fabric for inside and outside pockets
- 1/2 yard for bag lining and handle facing
- 1 yard light weight batting
- Heavy weight interfacing such as Stitch N Shape for bag bottom (2 pieces 10 1/2" x 8 1/2"). Save scrape to put under magnetic snap.
- Optional: 1/2 yard purchased or handmade piping/bias binding for outside pocket edge and optional outer bag trim
- If quilting outer pockets: Blue painters tape and machine walking foot to assist in quilt pockets
- 1 magnetic snap
- 1" of Hook and Loop Tape
