The Cozy Cupcakes Backpack Pattern by Cozy Nest Design is an adorable child's backpack with bonus pillow instructions! This
pattern has a secure zipper closure, a ruffled "frosting" designs, an inside pocket, and adjustable straps. Finished size for the
backpack is 8 1/2"W x 9"H x 6"D (22 x 23 x 15cm) and the pillow is 8 1/2"W x 9"H x 4"D (22 X 23 X 10cm). Pattern pieces for the
backpack are included with your PDF download.
Materials Needed: Suggested fabric - quilting cotton or light to medium weight home decor
- Fabric #1: 3/4 yard*(70cm) - for cupcake wrapper, back,bottom, interior back, interior bottom and straps
- Fabric #2: 1 1/8 yards* (1.10m) - for interior and exterior cupcake dome, ruffle "frosting" and interior pocket Suggested fabric: quilting
cottons or light weight home decor
- 20"wide (50cm) Heavy-weight, double-sided fusible interfacing: 1/2 yard (46cm) - (recommended: Peltex #72F Ultra Firm)
- 20" wide (50cm) Medium-weight, one-sided fusible interfacing: 1/4 yard (24cm)- (recommended: Peltex Craft-Fuse #808)
- Batting: 5 x 13 1/2" (13x34cm) piece for handles
- Red felt: 6" (15cm) square for cherry
- Brown felt: scrap for cherry stem
- 12" (30cm) zipper: 1
- 1/2" (12mm) wide elastic: 7" (18cm) for pocket
- 1/2" (12mm) ribbon: 9 1/2" (24cm) piece for zipper grab tabs & hanger loop
- 1" (2.5cm) nylon strapping: 24" (61cm) for adjustable portion of straps
- Stuffing: large handful for cherry
- 1 1/4" (3cm) D- rings: 4
- Coordinating thread for all fabrics
- 1/4" (6mm) wide fusible web tape for applying zipper
