The Salthouse Bag Pattern by Charlie's Aunt is a PDF purse pattern with a smart asymmetrical look and is vintage inspired from the 1940's. This bag pattern can be
made in two or three fabrics and features a stylish front pocket trimmed with a button, a long shoulder strap, and a snap fastener.
Finished size is approximately 13" (33cm) high (at highest point) x 14" (36cm) (at widest point) x 1.75" (4.5cm) width.
Materials Needed:
- For whole bag excluding strap in one fabric:
- ¾ yard (75cm) of 60” (154cm) wide, or 1 yard (100m) of 44” (112cm) wide exterior fabric
- To make in three fabrics with top and facing in fabric 1, exterior pocket and strap in fabric 2 and bottom in fabric 3, you will need:
- ½ yard (50cm) of 44” (112cm) wide or 1/3 yard (32cm) of 60” (154cm) wide exterior fabric 1
- ½ yard (50cm) of 60” (154cm) wide or 44” (112cm) wide contrast fabric 2
- 1/4 yard (25cm) of 36” (92cm) wide or 44” (112cm) wide exterior contrast fabric 3
- For all combinations, you will need:
- ½ yard (50cm) of 36” (92cm) wide or 44” (112cm) wide lining fabric
- ½ yard (50cm) of 36” (92cm) wide firm sew-in interfacing
- 1 yard (92cm) of 36” (92cm) wide fusible interfacing
- 40” x 5” (105cm x 14cm) of fusible web
- 1 magnetic snap
- 1 big button (approx. 2”/5cm diameter)
- Piece of plastic canvas for base approx. 1¾” (4.5cm) by 13” (33cm)
- For purchased handle:
- Leather or vinyl strap 1” (2.5cm) wide and approx. 32” (80cm) long
- Piece of fusible web approx. 5” x 4” (13 x 10cm)
- You will also need:
- Sticky tape (to join pattern templates together)
- Fabric marker pen, pencil or chalk
