Influenced by satchels, which were the original "cross-body" bags, this simple style gives a nod to those popular in the 1940s. It features a pleated front pocket, a choice of two flap styles and two interior pockets - one zipped and one "patch". If you prefer to make a plain front pocket rather than a pleated one, you can use the pocket lining template to do this. The Edingthorpe Satchel is a practical shape and size for all uses and occasions and can be made in a variety of fabrics, and with a contrasting strap/pocket.

Materials Needed:
- 3/4 yd exterior fabric
- 1/3 yd contrast exterior fabric
- 1 yd lining fabric
- 1 1/4 yds interfacing
- 1/2 yd x 28" foam stabilizer
- 1 yd x 36" wide fusible interfacing
- 3 or 4 buttons to trim flap, 1 1/2" diameter
- 12" x 2" piece of plastic canvas for base
- 40" x 5" fusible fusible web for straps
- 1 or 2 magnetic snaps depending on flap style
