The Caistor Courier Bag is a downloadable pattern by Charlie's Aunt is inspired by the courier bags of the 1940's. This purse pattern is
the perfect sizefor everyday use and can be made in a quality cotton or a tweed for that perfect compliment to your Fall wardrobe.
Instructions are included for either a single flap or a mock double flap and there is a convenient back pocket. Finished size is as follows:
Height 15” (38cm) and width 15” (38cm), with the width at the base approx. 2” (5cm). The strap length is 38” (96cm).
Materials Needed:
- For whole bag (both views) in one fabric excluding strap underside:
- ¾ yard (70cm) of 58” (148cm) wide, or 1 yard (95cm) of 44” (112cm) wide exterior fabric
- For contrasting centre front panel, flap and strap underside:
- ½ yard (50cm) of 44” (112cm) wide contrast fabric
- For bag side fronts/backs and strap:
- ½ yard (50cm) of 44” (112cm) wide main fabric
- For all views:
- 1 yard (92cm) of 44” (112cm) wide lining fabric
- 1½ yards (137cm) of 36” wide firm iron-on interfacing OR if using heavy craft weight sew-in interfacing for body, ¾ yard (70cm)
of 36”
- (92cm) wide craft weight sew-in interfacing and 2/3yd (62cm) of firm weight fusible interfacing
- Optional 40” x 5” (105cm x 14cm) of fusible web for strap
- 1 magnetic snap
- For view 1: One large button for flap 2” (5cm) diameter
- For View 2: Four buttons approx. 1½” (4cm) diameter ½ yard (50cm) of 54” (138cm)
- 1/3 yard (30cm) of 36” (92cm) wide fusible interfacing
