The Kaylee is aPDF pattern to sew this SUPER SIMPLE "Kaylee" case for your favorite device. This pattern
can be made with or without the pocket and offers 3 sizes to fit most any handheld device, any cell phone, compact camera,
Nintendo DS, or other small electronics.
This is a great beginners pattern with easy to follow instructions and lots of color photos!
Instructions include one style with a side loop (for carbiner clip or neck strap) and ribbon accent.
Optional lined pocket shows the contrast fabric at the top, echoing the lining inside the case.
An elastic band encircles the case to keep your phone and other accessories from sliding out. (where did I get that cute elastic?
check the hairbands at your local drugstore or mass merchandiser!)
Sizes to make are:
Small:
=====
This size is great for older phones (text and call only models), compact phones, early (small) smart phones. Some phones that fit
nicely include Motorola Rizr, Motorola Razr, Nokia Neuron. Phones measuring up to 2” w by 4 ½” h by ½” thick should work well in
this size. Be sure to measure your phone in the case if you have a bumper or decorative hard case.
Medium:
======
This size is perfect for iPhone 3 4 4s or 5, iPod, iPod touch and average sized smart phones. If you have a bumper case for your phone,
measure with the case on, as some are slim and some are quite padded. I tested an iPhone with a slim bumper case and it was fine.
This size fits the iPhone 5. A phone that measures up to 2 ½”w by 5”h by ½” thick will fit nicely. Most compact cameras are perfect in<
this size.
Large:
====
This pattern is designed for the new smartphones with oversized screens such as the Samsung Galaxy. Older cameras may fit in this
case as well. Devices measuring up to 3 ½” w by 6” h by ½” thick will fit. For cameras, up to an 8” circumference (narrow side) will fit.
Nintendo DS and other handheld gaming devices may fit in this case, check measurements for your device.
Materials Needed:
- 1/4 yd. or 1 Fat Quarter of main fabric
- 1/4 yd. of 1 Fat Quarter of contrast fabric for lining and pocket accent
- 16" decorative elastic (This can be found at your local drugstore)
- 2 1/2" ribbon scrap for loop
- 1/4 yd. of batting or enough scraps to cut 2 pieces from your desired pattern
